Privacy
This notice explains which personal data is processed when you visit this website, when you write to HostDesk, and – once the app opens – when the HostDesk app sends you email. It follows the Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection (FADP). It does not yet cover the rest of the app, which is not open; this notice will be reviewed and updated before the app opens.

Visiting this website
The website is hosted by METANET AG, Zurich, Switzerland. When you open a page, the web server records technical data in log files: IP address, date and time, the page requested, the referring page and the browser type. This data is used only to deliver the website and keep it secure, and is deleted once it is no longer needed for that.
No cookies, no tracking
This website sets no cookies for visitors. It uses no analytics, tracking pixels or advertising, and loads no fonts or scripts from other websites.
When you email us
If you write to hello@hostdesk.ch, your address and message are used only to reply to you, and never for marketing. Mail for hostdesk.ch is handled by Hostpoint AG, Switzerland; messages to hello@hostdesk.ch will be stored in a mailbox there. They are kept only as long as needed to deal with your message and to meet legal obligations.
On its way, a message is also handled by your own email provider, and by the provider of any mailbox it is forwarded to. Those providers act under their own terms and may be located outside Switzerland.
Email from the HostDesk app (planned)
The HostDesk app is not open yet. Once it is, it will send transactional email only: no marketing, newsletters or promotions, and no purchased or rented address lists. HostDesk does not email guests in its current scope. The app will send four kinds of email:
- address verification and password reset, requested by the User;
- invitations, when an Admin invites a colleague to join their Organization;
- deadline reminders to the members of an Organization when a Reporting Period’s filing with a Tax Authority is due soon;
- alerts and account notifications, such as “Your export is ready” or a broken Guesty connection.
A User gives their own address when creating an account. Reminders, alerts and account notifications go to the members of the User’s Organization. An Admin may send a colleague one invitation to join their Organization before the colleague has a HostDesk account. In that case the colleague’s address comes from the inviting Admin and is used only for that invitation, unless the colleague joins. Messages contain no guest personal data; they link back into the app instead.
This email is sent from noreply@mail.hostdesk.ch through Amazon Simple Email Service (SES), operated by Amazon Web Services EMEA SARL, in the AWS Europe (Zurich) Region, eu-central-2. For this, SES processes the recipient’s address, the message, and delivery events such as delivered, bounced or marked as spam.
SES account-level suppression is enabled for hard bounces and complaints: SES does not send to an address while it is on that list. Before launch, an SES configuration set will pass bounce and complaint events through SNS or EventBridge to the app, which will record them per recipient and stop mailing those addresses. The app will also keep its own record of each message it sends, with its SES message ID.
These records are kept only as long as needed to show that a message was handed over for delivery and to deal with failed or unwanted mail. An address that must not be mailed again is kept for as long as that is needed.
Closing your account stops all email from the app; it does not by itself delete these records (see “Your rights”). If you received an invitation or other email from HostDesk that you did not want, write to hello@hostdesk.ch.
Amazon Web Services EMEA SARL is based in Luxembourg and belongs to a group based in the United States. AWS may process this data outside Switzerland, including in the United States. Before the app sends any email, this notice will name the safeguard that applies to that disclosure abroad. Recipients’ own mail providers may also be located outside Switzerland.
Disclosure
Personal data is not sold and not passed to anyone for their own purposes. The providers named above process it only on our behalf: METANET AG to host the website, Hostpoint AG to receive email and, once the app opens, Amazon Web Services EMEA SARL to send app email.
Your rights
You can ask which personal data we hold about you and have it corrected or deleted, within the limits set by law. Write to hello@hostdesk.ch. You may also contact the Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner (FDPIC).
Changes
This notice will be reviewed and updated before the HostDesk app opens to Users.
